This IDC study, which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J12200181, presents 10 trends in the 2011 Japan security market and analyzes the outlook of the listed trends. The waves of cloud, mobility, Big Data, and social network will affect the security segment in 2012. Security threats will become more sophisticated and complicated as they combine with new attack methods such as continuous targeted attacks. To minimize damages caused by such security threats, it is most important to implement swift management decisions that will impact corporate activities, such as informing customers and related organizations after security incidents are verified and suspending services. To prepare for security incidents, the management has to analyze and specify current security risks and determine whether the risks could be minimized with the implementation of security measures. "IT managers should strongly advice the management security risks. Vendors should also improve their security intelligence/event management and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) products and services; as well as provide support to IT managers so that the management could easily keep track of the risk situation," says Tsuneo Tosaka, research manager, Software and Security, IDC Japan.
