GlaxoSmithKline PLC said Wednesday that Human Genome Sciences Inc. will need to drop a "poison pill" provision for the takeover of the Rockville biotech to move forward.
Human Genome Sciences is GlaxoSmithKline’s partner in developing and marketing the lupus drug Benlysta, which launched last year to lackluster results. The British pharmaceutical in April first sought to scoop up Human Genome Sciences for $2.6 billion, or $13 per share, in a deal the local company rejected as too low.

The Trust for Public Land’s ParkScore study ranks parks based on park access within a 10-minute walk; median park size and percentage of area devoted to parks and services and investment, which includes number of playgrounds per residents and parks spending.

A federal jury ruled Wednesday that Google Inc. did not infringe on two patents as claimed by Oracle Corp.
The jury previously found that Google infringed on Oracle's copyrights of Java and some of its application programming interfaces, but did not say whether Google had gone beyond the bounds of fair use, a matter that Judge William Alsup has yet to tackle.
